backup image of recovery partition

I want to kow that if i create a backup image of my recovery partition on to a dvd as an xml file using Macronium reflect....than would that dvd will be a bootable one.
If not how should i use my backup dvd created above. Should i just put thedvd and than run it if in case i need my recovery partition.
Do i also need the backup of C drive for recovery partition Backup to work.
Also but is ISO file....how it differs from image file.or xml
