The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Dynamic menu does not drop right in Safari for Windows

Asked by luefher in Safari Web Browser, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Extensible HTML (XHTML)

It works perfectly in IE7 (IE6 to follow once all the others work), FF3, FF2, Opera 9.51 (if you get a chance to test it on an earlier version - that'd be appreciated :)), but not on Safari. I have Safari 3.1.2 for Windows (I'll get a chance to test it on a Mac tomorrow, but expect the same thing to happen). When you move the mouse over the top-level item, a submenu appears. If the mouse is moved downwards slowly, everything is ok in IE7, FF, and Opera, and the menu stays visible. In Safari, though, there appears to be a 1px "gap" between the top-level and the submenu, which causes the submenu to disappear. The border on the menu is not set with css, it is a background image. As far as I can see, all the heights/paddings/margins/borders are set to correct values. If someone could explain to me why this is happening and how to fix it? The page is being constructed dynamically with .net. I remember there is a way to identify Safari in .net so, I could certainly use that if that's what's needed. Just not sure what it is - tried a few things but they didn't work...
