The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Creating imagewith transparent background in Photoshop CS3 and importing into another program

Asked by JenniferLyon in Web Graphics Software, Adobe Photoshop, Web Images

I have asked this question before and tried the solutions but they have not worked for me.  Would someone walk me through this please?  I need to created and image with text and shapes in Adobe Photoshop CS2 and save the background as transparent.  I need to then import the image, with transparent background preserved, into CoffeeCup Visual Site Designer for use on a web page.  I will also be using the image for brochures, etc. in other programs.  CoffeeCup VSD will only accept .gif or .jpeg files.  Since .jepgs do not support transparency I will need to save as a .gif for CoffeeCup VSD although I wil be able to use other file types for use in alternate programs.  Someone gave me the following solution when I asked this question before: "For keeping transparency in CS2 You need to choose it as BG type when creating a file itself and when saving - if You are saving it as GIF, You need to choose it in "pallete window" (First to pop after giving the name of file)."  I cannot find what "BG type" is.  Anyone know?  I was also told to use the freeware "irfanview" so I downloaded that and it did not work either.  I know that it's possile to save this image with a transparent background.  I don't know what I am missing here.  Could someone kindly walk me step by step through this?Start Free Trial
