Pimp up my XBMC ?

Hi There,

I am new to XBMC and want to use this instead of my cable. I need some advise of how to make this thing work. I would also like to know if there are some software that I can buy to add bells and whistles to my XBMC. I am using Xios/Pivos box. Below are the issue:

1- A lot of files do not  run with scripts errors msg, broken links or system hang up.

2- I have to click through video>add ons> and numerous other options just to get to see something. Is there a short cut to get to my channels.

3- Is there a way to only setup high quality working channels. Similar to Live TV ?

4- Navi X:  I have it but not sure if I am using it correctly. I go to navix> last 24 hours> and then randomly look for files. Again, half of them do not even load. Very frustrating.

5- Whats the best way to see live channels with HD quality ?

Thx in advance.

Good info.
Thanks :)
I am not sure if you found a good solution with a Pi or not, but there have been many upgrades in hardware lately and you can now find some very high end yet affordable boxes available.

I highly recommend the MINIX boxes, I find them to be very stable and of a good build quality.  They run Android and are pretty much plug and play.  You will need to install XBMC and configure it to your liking, but you can also get some per-configured boxes or per-configured XBMC versions that make life much easier.

I have been completely cable free now for about 2 years and I don't miss a thing with one exception...live HD sports.  That was an easy fix however with an over the air HD antenna, which allows me to get my local and major network channels in HD for free.  You will not get the same channel coverage you would with a provider but I live without it just fine.

I recently tested the Amazon FireTV and found it to be an awesome box, with some research you can find how to load XBMC onto it and from there the world is yours.  If you are an Amazon Prime member you can access movies and TV shows via Amazon, and when you need or can't find what you are looking for on Amazon you simply open XBMC and watch it on there.

Cutting your cable can be done, and honestly for the cost savings should be done.  If you need more specific information on the topic let me know and I can recommend some websites, addons and configurations.
