Browse All TopicsHi,
I installed the Zune software the latest version on my other XP computer however the zune is not syncing. It goes from 0% sync to 100% sync with a message saying that the zune device is updated (this process takes about 40 seconds).
I also tried to wipe my zune clean and reinstall but I didnt want to lose my files on there so I turned it into a hard drive but I see that these files are 0 bytes and in an .alb format however it does show in the Zune software that I have 14.41 GB on it. I would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks

You probably can't, Microsoft altered the firmware for the Zune so the registry hack that allows you to use the hard drive as a USB mass storage device only allows you to view files that are installed using the Zune desktop software. Depending on the firmware you are currently running (Zune > Settings> About > Zune - I'd guess you have 3.1(50)) it might be worth trying to get the Zune set up on another PC as a Guest device which might allow you to see files that haven't been sync'd properly. However if you don't have the original tracks on your main PC anymore the odds are your Zune settings are syncing with the PC and deleting the matching tracks from the Zune because they have been removed from the PC.
If you can see files with any size then you could open the case and using an IDE to ZIF connector directly copy across any files. Its not particularly difficult to do but if you have a Warranty still you'll lose it the moment you crack the case.
Have you tried resetting the Zune's drive (not the full 4 stage reset that reformats but the reset)?
It's kind of complicated but try this to get your files off (turn hard drive off first). I agree with MASQUERAID that the only way to fix it is to get your songs/videos/files off and then do a full reset.

Do you get an error code from the Desktop software?
Wiping and resetting the Zune is probably he only way to get this fixed as you may have some corruption on the Zune's hard drive.
