Audacity tries to work, but crashes about 30 minutes into a track.
The only solution I have found is using ITunes to create an ACC version..

I have several recordings of live shows that were probably encoded incorrectly, I'm wondering what I can do to correct the problem.
Symptoms:
The mp3 files are around 50mb.
iTunes and Winamp show the file to be only a few minutes long, however the file is actually around an hour long. These 2 players will show the slide bar moving until it reaches the end of the few minutes. The players will continue to produce the audio and go into a negative count on the slider.
Music Match and other players will simply stop playing when it reaches the end of the few minutes.
What I have done so far:
I have attempted to convert the files to wav, then re-encode them.
Every converter crashes except for Music Match, but the audio is corrupt.
What has worked:
Using iTunes to convert to an AAC file worked, by worked, I mean that the length was reported correctly. If no other solution is available, this will due, however, I prefer to keep them in an mp3 format, I understand there are AAC converters, but I would like to tamper with the files as little as possible..
Thanks
Andrew
