unwanted programs launching

Asked by TimmyFredSmith in Photo Album Software, Software MP3 Media Players, Digital Music and Video

Tags: unwanted programs, Napster Burn engine, Photo Gallery launching

While exploring folders, when I come upon mpeg or avi files, and without actually trying to open them.  The computer starts to launch something called photo gallery, which was part of a program called Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 that I removed.  So the program can't launch, but it keeps trying.  It takes me several attempts at cancelling before it finally goes away.

The same thing happens after I burn a music CD using an earlier version (6.0) of Roxio that best fits my application needs.  I had purchased a newer version (7..0) but when it was not useful, I removed it.  However, there apparently are regristry files that still reside launching up even though I removed the app.   As the music CD is finishing, a program called Napstrer Burn Engine trys to launch.  It's more an annoyance as the CD has been finished, but occasionally it will lock up the Roxio application I'm using. and I have to totally reboot the computer in order to use the application again.   It happens similar to the photo gallery issue... I have to hit the cancel button several times before it will go away.
