Typing distorts audio or makes audio skip.

When I type it distorts/makes my audio skip. Doesn't matter if MP3's are playing in Winamp or Windows Media Player, or if I am trying to watch a webinar and ask a question, typing distorts the audio. If I just hold a key down it makes like a soft ticking sound overtop the audio. If I type real slow it doesn't affect the audio, but I don't type slow.

How do I resolve this, I have never had this problem before on any other of my computers.

This is a sony vaio, running windows xp pro.

I don't even know where to begin looking in the configuration to fix this.
