Can't see videos on my laptop anymore

I used to be able to show dvd's and videos on my laptop but can't anymore  I have all the codecs installed.  I have installed other media players and updated others still, only sound and no videos.

Yet I can view streaming video from the internet, so I believe that the problem is due to something with the windows OS.
