MP3 Watermarking?

Hi,
  I need to watermark MP3's using something more than ID tags. Is there a utility to embed a text string ID inside an MP3 or record a repeating string in the MP3 just below the audiable range?

People rip music from a friends site minutes after its posted without a refference to its source and place the music on YouTube and other sites.
