I have 2 wave files that were orrigionally recorded on a Olympus Difgital recorder and then downloaded to a computer using the Lite version of the software that came with the recorder.
When these files are downloaded from recorder to computer, the only option is as .wav files. Once done, the files can be burned to a CD, But .wav will not play on a portable cd player (walkman style . . .and that's what I need).
I know WMP11 can convert wav to audioCD when burning. But I get an error "length of file cannot be determined" when I drag to prepare to burn. Then, I found this link at
http://www.audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_burn_CDs"Hint: Windows Media Player 11 will not accept .WAV files for burning if they are dragged straight into a burn list, but have not previously been played in Media Player. You will see a red symbol and a "length of file cannot be determined" error. To solve this problem with a .WAV that has never been played in Media Player, drag the file into the Media Player Library or into a playlist, then from there into a burn list. Also, this version of Windows Media Player does not accept .AIFF files for burning, so you must export as .WAV. Neither of these problems affect previous versions of Media Player. "
I try as they suggest, and even liten thru one of the tracks after I copied it into library. But then, when I drag from the music library to be burned, I get a file corrupt error.
I have tried several other programs, each time chosing to convert .wav to a audioCD format. I get errors of one knd or another in any program I use.
But I can play the files just fine, and burn them to a .WAV format on a cd and listen to them fine.
What's going on. Is the Olympus software putting a hex on things?
