Quickest solution is to get an external USB hard drive .. formatted as FAT32 and plug it into the Mac .. cop the entire iTunes Music folder and then plug the USB drive into the PC and copt the entire folder into the Windows iTunes music folder .. then you can safely erase and reformat the ipod for windows.
If you have not got a USB drive .. you can use the iPod .. with a little effort.
Assuming that all the music on the iPod is also on the Mac.. the you can erase the iPod and plug it into Windows. Reformat and also enable Disk Sharing. This will allow you to use the iPod as an external USB drive.
Now move the iPod back to the Mac .. DON'T open iTunes ... instead open the iPOd icon on the desktop and drag & drop the iTunes Music folder onto the ipod to copy it (assuming you've enough space on the iPod).
Return the iPod to the PC and copy the iTunes music folder into the MyDocuments / My Music - iTunes folder

In the rare case that the IPod is formated as FAT 32 you'll be able to connect it to a win computer, but you won't be able to backup the IPod to the PC so you need to do a backup, apple/ipod /
Several program that will work are listed here.

If th eIPod is in Mac format you'll need to reformat the IPod as FAT 32 using a MAc and the you'll need to use ITunes under windows to fill the IPod again.
