I have uninstalled other programs recently so i know (i think) its not windows but the setup file for MM is no longer there. I cant reinstall this as i cant find it online anymore, apparently musicmatch is now yahoo music and they dont have it available at all...the closest i could find was 10.0 and it wont overwrite what i have. I just want this program off my system, between mim.exe and shell icon hidden windows errors....its been nothing but a bee in my bonnet. I dont mind removing it manually but im not 100% sure of how. HELP!!

Here's a good one, the REVO Uninstaller:

See if either of those version 10's will install over the top of the old one and then uninstall it from there.
I don't find mention of a version 10.1 anywhere... are you sure it wasn't like, 10.00.1 or something?
Ok, well another alternative is to try Trend HijackThis 2.02:
http://majorgeeks.com/Tren
The technique is to create a folder where you would like the HijackThis file to reside, and run it from there, not from the Desktop or a temporary folder.
Run the scan & save the logfile. Then click the "Attach Code Snippet" box, paste the logfile into the "Code Snippet" page, & there i can analyse it and suggest how to remove Musicmatch from there.
The entry may look something like this>
C:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatc
If you'd prefer a Guide and Tutorial on using HijackThis, here it is:

The reason you had this problem is that after version 10, Yahoo bought the program. They broke it and won't offer support. It also is VERY finicky about what it requires in terms of operating systems. This is contrary to what it was like when it was an independant program.
Good luck with your new install.
