The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Convert .gv4 video file to wmv?

Asked by parry_tim in Digital Music and Video

Tags: .gv4 video wmv convert

Our office in China records assessments to a bizarre video file type with extension .gv4.  To play this file you then need to run an executable on your machine called CXPlayGV4.exe to view that .gv4 file as a video.

Ideally we need to convert that file to a .wmv so we can upload it to a web tool and play it from there on a standard XP machine.  However, it seems there are no converters out there that can achieve this.  I'm hoping to avoid using screen capture tools as well as they all seem to take ages running a conversion.  Does anyone know of a tool that can convert from .gv4 to a more flexible format such as .avi, or ideally directly to .wmv.

As well as the CXPlayGV4.exe executable I also have a file called CXPlayGV4.dll which I'm guessing holds info on how to read the .gv4 format.  I may be clutching at straws but I was wondering if there was any way of getting something like windows media encoder to use that dll for .gv4 files to run a conversion.  Would anyone know a possible hack for that?
