Question

Any DVD Player supporting Real Media Format

Asked by: skschandra

I am looking for a DVD Player or Multimedia External Harddisk player to connect to my TV to watch Real Media Format movies or files. I am wondering if any manufacturer has ever made such a product.
Please suggest any other recommendations you might have to play RM media files to watch on TV without using Computer.

I have actually found one player on the internet after extensive search. Here are the links beloz

http://cgi.ebay.com/RM-RMVB-Hdd-player-MP5-Multimedia-SD-MS-XD-HOST-DVD-AVI_W0QQitemZ330194498401QQihZ014QQcategoryZ74949QQcmdZViewItem

                                                               or

http://search.ebay.fr/RM-RMVB-Hdd-player_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC6QQdfspZ32QQflocZ1QQfromZR10QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQsabfmtsZ1QQsacatZQ2d1QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQQsaslcZ2QQsasltZ2QQsatitleZRMQ2fRMVBQ20HddQ20playerQQsbrexpZWD2SQQssPageNameZWD2S?_trksid=p1638.m122

But both these player do not have inbuilt hard disks in them. Also its quite costly almost 85 Euros.

to watch on TV without using Computer. NOPE noway, these are  REAL Media files DRM
iTunes. They must use the designated player in order to play them.
Copyrighted etc.
You only have two choices
convert them to a format that does not use the real player such as avi or mpeg
http://convert-realmedia-file.qarchive.org/
http://realmedia-converter.dpsof-inc.qarchive.org/ << 26 dolars
 or
connect the computer to the TV
Then you can  play/watch these movies from your computer to the TV. As you will have the correct players.
A video card with TV out will do the trick if you have a Laptop handy  place it near the TV and connect it
then you setup dual screen  I use clonemode
so whatever I play on the computer appears in my TV I have full screen for the TV.
You could  also use wireless video senders now
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_sender
example only
http://www.oneforall-int.com/?pag=39&prodnr=104
Alternatively if you have the cash you can buy a TV flat screen and have the plug modifed and now can use a 68 CM TV as a monitor plugged into the tower.

The converter looks like your best option, you need a dvd burner with Nero preferred.
Google for more real media video converters but 26 dollars looks pretty good price.

convertet is the best option
some tips
buy a re-writable DVD
write 2 to 3 movies at a time
download video converter soft from Bit Comet

Well I have finally bought philips HDD recorder 250 GB inbuilt memory recently which can play any format except RM. Anyways I have now learnt that RM is not a good format and not even worth watching on the computer. Anyways since I have dropped the idea I will like to share the pts to both of you.
