Quicktime is playing audio but not showing any video

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to play the videos located at the following site:

www.lynda.com

...but when I click on a movie to play it, it only plays the audio and I can't see any video. I wondered if someone could tell me how I can fix this?

I tried this with both Safari and Firefox with QuickTime 7.5.4 and I get video. What browser are you using? what is your hardware? Do you have any cutom screen resolutions set?

Thanks for the reply,

I didn't think to test in another browser as I thought it was a QuickTime problem. I just tested in Firefox and it works fine there, so it must be a Sarari 3.1.1 problem.

I'm using a Macbook Pro with OS 10.4.11 installed.

Is there any fix to get it working in Safari?

Also, I thought the latest version of QuickTime was 7.4.5. You mentioned 7.5.4 but I couldn't see this on the Apple website - was this a typo?

hmm I was on my MBP with Leopard installed but I can check on my work Emac with Panther. Yes,  sorry. It was a typo. I have  7.4.5 on my old Panther install. It has 1.3.2 Safari  playing video on the emac just fine. You might want to fix permissions then manually download the latest Safari. 10.5.3 on Leopard just came out last night so Safari may have changed slightly too. In any case, if you have been updating with auto-updater for anything, then re-downloading a manual update is a good first step troubleshooting step for almost any OS X issue. I don't use auto updater for anything since 10.4.11
There is also the Opera browser you could try.
