I have no audio although device manager shows everything working properly. Did an uninstall and reinstall, still no audio. One thing I noticed on the HP site is there are no audio drivers listed for the zv 5380. I used automatic install in windows and they showed realtek ac97 when installed but did not work. I uninstalled and went to HP again and downloaded sound drivers for ZV5000 and those showed soundmax when installed and still did not work. I do get some system sounds. This unit has an AMD processor,Nvidia graphics and sound.
Thanks fo any help that you can offer.

1. How did you determine that you needed the Realtek audio driver?
2. Did you install all the HP System Enhancements Disks for Windows XP from their drivers site?
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/
I have gone and idownloaded all the enhancements. I am now not able to remove he soundmax drivers. I inttended to remove them, install the enhancements and then reinstall the drivers. Could you explain what I am doing wrong. The audio no longer shows realtek, it shows soundmax. I did an automatic install and these are the drivers the system installed. STILL NO SOUND.
Sorry. I missed this earlier.

The sound appears to be integrated. What is the model number of your unit? It should be something like PM002UA. Or, can you tell me the make and model of your motherboard? A tool like SIW, available at:

Should provide the necessary manufacturer and model.
Thanks.
