He was having some issues recording audio so he attempted to uninstall and reinstall the audio driver with one from Intel's site:
Realtek audio driver version 5939 for Intel® Desktop Boards.
He is getting a "!" next to the device in device manager now since the uninstall failed with error code: 0xE0000227.
He can not update the driver manually through device manager or reinstall the driver using an older driver or the latest driver. He gets the same error code when he tries.
Is there a utility that can be run to manually remove all traces of that previous Realtek driver or anything else he can try from here?

If you haven't already, I would try deleting the device from Device Manager by right-clicking and saying "Remove Device." Then reboot the PC and allow Windows to re-detect it and try to load the appropriate driver files. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then let me know and we can try some other things.
