The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Downloadable m4a and mov files

Asked by JustDuckyDesigns in Quicktime Player, Digital Music and Video, Adobe Dreamweaver

I have created a password protected site for a client. The want users to be able to view and download several different types of files. There are two different videos one with .vob extensions and one with .move extension. There are also about 18 different audio files, all with .m4a extensions.

I have two problems:

1) I created this site using Dreamweaver CS3. I used the "media: plug-in" link to embed the files to be played. They do not play in all browsers, some people just see a Q with a question mark some see just a black line. In some browsers, that do play them, they all start playing at once even though I have the parameter "autoplay=false" set.
Here is one of lines of code for the embedded song:
 <embed src="Jack2009/My Turn/12 Ramblin' Fever 1.m4a" width="225" height="40" autoplay="false"></embed></td>

2) I cannot find a way to have the user click on, or right-click on the file and allow them to download it and have it download in a useable format. It downloads simply as a file not an audio file.

And, before anyone asks, yes I have permission to use all of the songs and videos. The site is for the original artist - that is why it is password protected - it is for concert promoters to download promotional material.
