Quick Time X

Quick Time X allows to capture the action on the screen with screen recording; but although this function allows to record all the screen, it doesn't permit to record specific areas of the screen; we would like to know if there is a modality, using terminal or AppleScript or other methods, to get the recording of specific areas of the screen;
any answer?
