No more WMV playback

Had this Question up some 2yrs ago, and had to close it due to unsuccess in solving it.

A few months later - suddenly, the problemo dissapeared. WMV playback worked like a charm for like 1½year.

And now... here we go again.

After several, several hours... i've given up. Maybe you guys can give me some ideas this time, cause I've ran out of them.

I have;

Uninstalled, installed, reinstalled WMP6,7,8,9,10,11.

Installed/Uninstalled Codecpacks (KLM, XPcodec, CCCP).

Uninstalled everything but ffdshow and MPC.

Reinstalled Direct-X 9c

Disabled the external graphics-card (Nvidia) and tried with the on-board graphics (ATI)

Checked files with sfc. Rollbacked to previous configs with ERUNT. Repair-installed XP and lastly I did a rollback with the Rec.Console to the configs under \windows\repair.

Still no WMV-playback. Directshow reports the wonderful "0x80040154". A new profile will return the same error.

Since this is pretty much impossible to solve, just as it was last time, I would have given this a 5K points, but since 500 is the maximum, that'll have to do...
