With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

Windows Media Player 11 goes silent

I have WMP11 installed on a Vista Home Basic PC. Medion Quad Core processor, can update with more details later.

Windows Sounds play fine, internet based video/music plays fine. Open WMP all fine until I try and play a track. Then everything goes silent, no sound from anything.

I use the Device Manager (through WMP menu or Control Panel) to configure the speakers and I get the relevant noises through each speaker (5.1 system). Go through the wizard and click Apply. Try playing music and nothing.

Updates get downloaded and installed automagically.

What can I do to fix this?
