The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Cannot format SD cards in Windows XP

I have 2 SD cards (1GB and a 2GB) which I use between two digital cameras, a Canon and a Fuji.  No problem there.  When I transfer pictures to my XP box, I re-insert the card and re-format in the camera.  No problem there.  The problem is, that when I try to format the card from the card reader in Windows Explorer, it says I cannot format, the disk is write protected.  So I look for the little switch on the card and make sure W/P is turned off, still no luck.  I try the switch in both, directions, ditto.  The only reason I want to do this is a need one of the cards for a LCD picture frame I got for Christmas.  Just so you know, I formated the card in a camera, put it back in the reader so I could drop pictures on it, and it said I could not do that because of the write protection.  The 2 GB card is a Kingston, the 1GB is a Promaster, and the USB 2.0 card reader is a Lexar.   Help please.
