Mini DV vs Mini DVD

Hi Experts,

I am new to the world of Camcoders, so these are few thing what I felt after my initial research.

Mini DV cameras are better w.r.t to Video Quality, Capture or recording time (compared to mini DVD)

But the advantage of Mini DVD camcoders is that they can directly burn to the dvd where as recording time is limited to 30 mins only :(.

( I actually wanted a MiniDVD one but after looking at the limitation of recording time I am thinking about MiniDV, please let me know if the recording time of Mini DVD is more than 30 mins I will rethink about my decision )

Is the above research correct?

And also one more comment regarding canon camcoders what I saw in many reviews was that the motor sound is relatively too high and interferes with video captured. (Canon ZR series)

Please let me know you suggestions as I am planning to buy one in a week or so.
