Firewire is the transport of choice when it comes to digital camcorders. Most capture software will recognize devices connected using it, and if you don't have a firewire port on your pc, you can get one fairly cheap at newegg.com. USB2.0 is a little faster (480MB/s vs 400MB/s), but it's newer and software may have a problem with it.
