How can I remove the write protection on my PNY Technologies 2 GB SD card

I have a PNY Technologies 2 GB SD card that has files on it that I don't need. However, when I try to delete them or reformat the card, I get a warning that the card is write protected. I've tried it with the "Lock" pin in both positions and get the same message each time. I can access the files (see them in My Computer and open them), but can't delete or cut them off the card. I have a hard time believing that the card is defective. Any ideas?

SD cards have protection switch. If you use the lock feature when youve stored very important data, you will prevent accidentally deleting or overwriting that data.
* MiniSD and microSD cards does not have protection switch.
You need to physically move  the protection switch on the card

I wish that was the problem, but as I wrote above, "I tried it with the "Lock" pin in both positions and get the same message each time."

That was it - I tried it on a different SD card reader, and the files could be deleted.  I then added a new file to the card and tried to delete it using the "bad" reader, and it didn't work again.  I'll contact the manufacturer.  Thanks!
