I'm looking for a way (for myself and others) to send SMS messages from our phones to a group of other phones.
We are a group of people who must constantly notify all others in the group of specific information in a timely manner.
Most of the people have regular phones and don't have phones with Windows Mobile etc.
Until now, we've been using email forwarding from my email provider (GoDaddy). In essence what we are doing is sending an sms/email message from the phone to a specific email address. That address is set up to forward all emails coming in to that account - to a list of phones such as TheNumber@vtext.com (for verizon) and a few more phones on the list.
For various reasons this is not working as well as we wish. For example, the Text Message Header is very long so the message must be very short < 90 (characters) or it gets cut off. The email header would be something like "SRSO=x60n=TA=vtext.com=Th
eNumber@bo
unce.secur
eserver.ne
t".
I tried using AT&T and then the person sending it never gets the message as well, so he's never really sure if it went out. (Besides about an hour later the sender will get a reply that an error occured, even though it worked.)
In Gmail I have tried to use filters to send to multiple people but the header is pretty long as well.
What I'm looking for is a service, an email service or a program (preferably free or relatively inexpensive) that will allow me to send an SMS message to multiple phones, from a phone without cutting off the end of the message, or it should break up the message into mutiple messages.
I would love if it will also allow the phone that is sending the message to receive it as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
