The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need smart phone which is more phone than smart

Asked by Bert2005 in Cellular Phones & Carriers

Hi experts,

OK, probably a silly title, but it captures the essence of the question. I purchased the i-Mate 8502 six months ago, and it has been an excellent phone. The biggest problem with it is I have to use AT&T with it, which has higher prices and lower coverage. In fact, most of the time I have to use the area code with the number as Unicel becomes the wireless network.

It is, of course, a touch screen, which it what makes it difficult for me to use. It is very difficult to utilize the numbers on the QWERTY keyboard and, therefore, I have to use the stylus and touch screen to make calls unless they are contacts and, even then, it can be difficult. Since it is used more as a phone, it is not as helpful as I would want.

So, I have embarked on looking for a smart phone with the following characteristics:

Ability to have messaging, push email, and Internet and interface with Exchange Server 3.0
A regular phone number pad at the bottom which is not on the touch screen
A possible touch screen, but I could use a touch screen if it still had the easy to use keypad for one hand dialing
Possible slide out QWERTY keyboard
Would be nice with a SIM card, but I could use it only with U.S. Cellular or Verizon if necessary

I have seen some keypads which have QWERTY key boards but there are two letters per key. Not sure how helpful that is.

I would rather not have a video or camera.

I could use Windows 6.1 or Blackberry. Blackberries are less likely to have touch screens, although the Storm looks as though it does. But, then you have to use the screen to make phone calls. One also would need a BES but for one person, it is free.

I just have a very difficult time using the stylus every time I want to do something, although touch screen is nice.

I would love the HTC, but it has the issue with the keypad again. Even the HTC Pro without the Diamond is difficult to use for that. Plus, again, it is more iPod like in that it has all sorts of entertainment bells and whistles such as music and video and camera, etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
