We need our GPS midlet to funciton on a Canadian cell phone

We have successfuly loaded our GPS midlet on several iDEN phones (ie 1290, 1265, i425 etc) for use on Sprint & Boost phones in the USA

But, we have a new client in Canada. No iDEN network. Are there any other phones (maybe motorola?) we can use there? Which carrier is recommended?

Would this work? Load the midlet on the iDEN phone in the US, them ship the phone to Canada and change the SIM card to work on their network?
