DVD/CD drive will not read or write CD-r

I am trying to burn a small power point file to CD.  My PC tells me that "There is no disc in the drive".  There is a blank CD-r in the drive.  I've tried two different types of media but no go.  Both types have been used in a different PC and have burned with no problem.  The drive will read CD-rom but doesn't seem to be able read CD-r that are OK on other PCs.  This used to work.  The system is just over a year old and my experience is that these drives don't generally die like this.Start Free Trial
