Dvd burner will burn a data cd with no problem, just will not execute the built in Gateway factory default backup disk operation without giving this error. Have tried different dvd+ dvd- with the same result.

error code 0x205
Burning failed. Please insert a blank CD/DVD into the ooptical drive and press ok to continue.
I have tried DVD's and Cd-r's with the same result. I can use the drive to play music cd's and rip music using Media Player. The general Exception in details reads as follows:
Value was either too large or too small for an INT32. Error Code 517:Disc Type:CD
This Pc is loaded with Vista Home Premium 64bit OS. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try burning a blank CD with some data and see if it works.
If it doesn't then get either
Either IMGBurn http://www.imgburn.com/
or CDBurnerXP http://cdburnerxp.se/
Both are free and excellent. Good tutorials can be found on both sites.
Repeat the burning exercise and if it fails here then most likely your burner is dead. Use the warranty in this case.
