I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-SR304 AV Receiver. It has lots of connectors and good functionality, but it has an issue that is getting on my nerves. When the sound field changes, either during a movie, or during comercials, there is an audible click from the receiver, and at the same time the bass drops out. I'm assuming most of the time it is because the commercial is not being broadcast in surround sound, but there are still plenty of times when the click and loss of bass happens during the movie. During a typical 2-hour viewing, this may happen 10-20 times. It doesn't matter if I'm watching a DVD, Dish Network DVD, or TV.
Onkyo says this is normal to happen during commercials, but not during the movie. What I'd like to do is find a receiver that does not make the click noise at all. Can anyone please recommend an AV surround sound receiver that does not have this audible click, yet still has a good assortment of connections on the back of the receiver, including HDMI?
