I'm looking to convert the digital output of my TV to an analog signal. I've found but one converter while searching the internet. The brand name is Gefen. It runs right around $80.00 US. Is there a cheaper one on the market? Are these things worth the money? I've read where they introduce a hum. Are there any other brands on the market?

Anytime you change domains (digital to analog or analog to digital), it requires expensive equipment because of the accurate conversion needed. If you have a PC, you can get one of these soundcards and do the conversion, but then you need to have the PC turned on: http://www.provantage.com/
