most likely your cd-burner is not working together with wmp since the cd i blank when you open it on the computer. I would advice you to try a different burning program. i personally use itunes and it is working perfectly. if this doesn't work, try to update your driver or better use the cd that came with the burner if you bought it after you got the computer. if this doesnt work you might have a broken cd-writer ;)
WAV is a data file format for a computer to use that can't be understood by CD players directly.
Most cd players in a car donot support wav burnt diectly as a data disc.
Audio CDs do not use WAV as their sound format, using instead Red Book audio.
In simple language select create an audio disc, WMP will need to use your inbuilt cd burner to perform this task. Convert the wav to cda. ( Audio disc)
The commonality is that both audio CDs and WAV files have the audio data encoded in PCM.
To record WAV files to an Audio CD the file headers must be stripped and the remaining PCM data written directly to the disc as individual tracks with zero padding added to match the CD's sector size.

Can you see if anything was burned to the disc physically? Another method is try pasting the files directly to the CD drive, then "burn these files".
