file convertion to mpeg4

Hi all, i am running a homemade DVR and want to run a bath file to move different file types wmv, mp3 etc to MPEG4 so i can stream them on my mobile and via broswer, anyone know if a free tool that will do this?

I would check out handbrake.  I'm pretty sure they have a command line version, so it should be batchable.

You may want to write a script utilizing ffmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/) in order to perform the conversions.  You can convert a variety of file formats into mpeg4 using libavcodec.

There's lots of different MPEG-4, which one are you referring to?

I use x264 inside MeGUI for archiving recorded shows from my TiVo.  It's not completely automated but depending on how many files you plan to convert you might not have to invest any significant time.

For example, using preset templates for the avs script and encode options, it takes me about 60 seconds to setup each of my encodes.  I then click the process queue button to let the conversions run overnight.

If you want to convert to divx then you can use Dr.Divx from http://labs.divx.com/DrDivX which has watch folder option to automate conversion.
