The most simple solution is to use VLC. (www.videolan.org)

It can broadcast signals via unicast or multicast, and it can even encode the video on the fly.

Via the correct hardware, VLC can also use satellite data as an input (for instance, DVB-S). See the documentation for more details.

To be able to give more detailed steps, we would require a more detailed explanation of what exactly you want to accomplish.

You want to send satellite signal into IP network?
From what kind of satellite system?
Only one channel or more than that?
Do you need an STB for showing the picture on a TV?
Do you need EPG or other related stuff to work?
Do you need multicast?
For what is this going to be used, and is it going to be testing only or a permanent solution?
How much are you willing to pay for this? And how much time do you want to invest?

This is just a small subset of questions, but having some general idea of what you want to do would help loads in giving you some details on how to do it.

Dear,
I am working with an ISP and providing DSL/Leased/MPLS internet services in the country. Company have planned to give IPTV service in the country over internet in start of next year. This is my task to give/find solution for this.
In start i need to give some demo for this service. please advise which equipment and steps are required for this. this test can be done using any one in following ways.

1- Receiving TV channels from existing Cable network and sending to IP network.
2- Receiving TV channels from satellite network and sending to IP network.
3- Receiving TV channels from existing local TV antenna network and sending to IP network.

This above mentioned could be used for test. please guide what minimum equipment/software are required to setup this demo..

Immedeatly after this demo we need to give solution for  live setup..As i am mainly network engineer and also i did not had chance to work on multi casting. but we have to go for multi casting for demo and real solution. please advise the best with steps.

Please find answer for your question below...

You want to send satellite signal into IP network?
Answer: yes we are planing to send satellite/cable/dish signals to TV (multi source but satellite is main)

From what kind of satellite system?
Answer: Please advise for Bahrain what is best.

Only one channel or more than that?
Answer: For test can be only one or multiple channels but later need to send more than one channel.

Do you need an STB for showing the picture on a TV?

Do you need EPG or other related stuff to work?
Answer: can not understand please explain/advise.

Do you need multicast?
Answer: Yes, we need to use multicast.

For what is this going to be used, and is it going to be testing only or a permanent solution?
Answer: As mentioned above this is testing as of now but permanent solution immediately after this test.

How much are you willing to pay for this? And how much time do you want to invest?
Answer: For Test want to do by existing recourse like i have currently cisco 7600, 3800, 3600,  2800, 2600 series router and Catayalyst 6500, 4500, 3750, 2960 series switches as being a pure ISP setup but can invest in case of requirement. i am not sure how much but minimum whatever is required.

What you are trying to accomplish is WAY out of scope of Experts Exchange.

I have done installations of large IPTV systems, and for now, there are seriously expensive consultants you can hire for this kind of jobs.

For ISP-wide deployments, there are no free or even cheap solutions available. Multicasting streams into your network is reasonably easy and straightforward, and can be accomplished with VLC for instance. But having an STB/PC tune into that stream with any reasonable level of usability is a whole other issue.

For rebroadcasting satellite signals you also need to have contracts with the satellite provider and/or the channels themselves. This is also not cheap.

If you want, you can contact me professionally at tstm@softcon.fi and I'll help you set a demo up. I am familiar with IPTV technologies, especially Microsoft Mediaroom. Microsoft can also be contacted for a demo of their IPTV system.

And to answer some questions:
EPG is Electronic Program Guide, the ability to see what is now coming from TV, and what the schedule is going to be for some time into the future.

If needed, I can also post here a quick guide how to stream video into network with VLC. I can't help you here more than that, because I would need to know more of how you get your signal, etc.

Hi, We have knowledge that this is high cost solution and to implement project we have to invest good amount of money and get support from equipment provider for IPTV solution OR some consultants.

Being  technical, i want to first have knowledge of following.
1- what technologies are involved and what i need to select for my requirements.
2- what are the codec/signaling are for IPTV and what will be the best for our setup.
3- what are the products are for this technology like Dish, receiver, mixture etc.
4- what are the streaming methods and which will be the best for us.

After getting knowledge for above,  I want to be able to do some basic testing and give demo to management , also will be able  get knowledge about technologies that how the system working so that i will be getting correct and wise solution. I believe this will give me knowledge to select the correct solution.

I will contact to you again for these demo from different companies but after doing some home work as mentioned above.

it will be great if it is possible for you to send me contact details for later stage.

Also please post the link to get EPG electronic program guide and post that  quick guide how to stream video into network with VLC.

Thanks for your guidance..

What you are asking,  as Tesmi has stated,  is a full end to end solution, and Mediaroom I agree is the best answer,  but even it is not a complete solution.  VLC is consumer,  not commercial grade.  To provide TV service you require first a legal license to reencode and rebroadcast the content.  Second,  you will require commercial encoders (Tandberg, and Harmonic for example) to take your signals and turn them into commercial grade IP Video.  You also need a way to manage that content end to end, which is where Mediaroom comes in (EPG, Subscribers, Access Controls, Billing, etc), finally you need a client which will display the video, typically a STB. You will need somebody to provide the EPG data for the feeds you have.
I would recommend you contact Microsoft regarding Mediaroom,  or take Tesmi up on his generous offer to help you get started.
(I work for Microsoft Mediaroom. I believe my comments to be unbiased,  but want to be up front about where my viewpoint comes from to be fair)
