rewiring electrical outlet used for tv and light

Hi, I recently purchased a flat screen television and I want to mount it on the wall. So, I am moving the power outlet used for the television from the bottom of the wall to the middle of the wall. The one plug on the outlet is connected to a switch on the wall, and the other has no switch. So I simply added 6 ft onto the romex wires, I purchased three romex wires, connected them to the existing romex wires, then reconected these new wires back onto the outlet into the middle of the wall. However, the one plug not connected to the switch works fine now, but when I flip the switch on the wall now, it turns the breaker off. I am stumped, it seems like I reconnected identically as it was before, any ideas where I could have messed up, or why the circuit breaks when I flip the switch on the wall? Any help of ideas would be appreciated!
