The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Zen Vision M not coming on, and blue flashing light when charging

I have a Creative Zen Vision M, which I've been using in exactly the same way for several years now.

I use it, wait until the battery is down to no more than half way, then charge it by attaching it to my computer, which is always on. It's connected to my computer by a USB cable, which is connected directly to the USB port on the computer (i.e. not through a hub). I've been doing this for years, and it always charges without any problems.

A few days ago, I noticed that the battery was down really low, so didn't use it. A few days later, I go to use  it, and then notice again that the battery indicator is low, so I plug it into a computer (not the usual one) to try and charge it. While plugged in, it shows me a blue flashing light (where it normally stays steady when charging), and I hear a quiet ticking noise coming from it, in time with the blue flashing light.

I figure maybe the computer I've plugged it into isn't outputting enough power to charge it, so I disconnect it, and then later connect it to the usual computer, and leave it to charge. Again, it shows the blue flashing light and I hear the ticking. I figure that maybe it just needs to be left to charge for a while, as the battery is probably really low.

I leave it overnight (for about 6 or 7 hours on charge), and in the morning, it's still flashing and ticking. It still won't turn on.

What's wrong with my player? Is it dead? I'm hoping not, as it's expensive to replace :(
