How do I uninstall EZ Firewall (Zone Alarm) manually?

I need to uninstall either some form of Zone Alarms firewall or maybe it's EZ Firewall. There is a service called True Vector Internet Monitor and when I disable it I can surf but with "errors on the page". There's no program group for ZA nor an add/remove. There is a folder called Program Files\Zone Alarm and when I try to install another version of ZA it reports I have to uninstall the current install of ZA (EZ Firewall).

How do I do this manually?

Tried that and still having browsing issues In IE (graphics only shows; looks like the web circa 1995)

I noticed the True Vector Internet Monitor is still there. When I try to start it it reports a dependency error on a RPC service.

I always associated True Vector Internet Monitor servcie with Zone Alarm but I don't really see ZA on this computer anymore. Can someone help me fix or ideally remove the True Vector Internet Monitor service?

Maybe then I can reinstall ZA. I'm not sure what's affecting IE's browsing though. Something is filtering it's content.

you could use hijackthis and simply remove the service

No go....IE still reports errors on page. Can I request that this Question go in an Internet Explorer group?

OK I uninstalled all references to ZA and EZ Firewall and was able to re-intstall ZA, so  True Vector Monitoring runs fine.

But this is the wierd part about IE.

ONLY www.msn.com has the no graphics! Every page I can think of loads fine with rich web 2.0 content, flash and all!

How can I purge the msn cached page that generates errors and displays nothing but rich text?

quite easy:

www.ccleaner.com is a great solution for this. Free software cleaning up all temp files and index.dat files and such:

When someone will search for the same problem here on EE, I see no reason my suggestion would lead her wrong.

You've also mentioned "Tried that (my suggestion) and still having browsing issues..."

So, I at least would like to hear your alternative way, different from mine, to grant you a PAQ w/ refund.

I gave you a two step approach to solve the problem:

1st: manual deinstallation of ZA + pointer to hijackthis
2nd: some tool to clean up your Internet cache + the index.dat (where all your IE history is secretly kept)

I'm sorry, I forgot to post the solution here! I posted this question over at IE when I discovered Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro and I posted that solution over there. I regret that I did not do that in this thread, it was not intentional. However in this case, I stumbled upon a solution willy-nilly by installing a different product altogether that cleared up whatever issues were preventing IE's graphics (errors on page) from displaying.

Although I appreciate the alternative suggestions it is moot to try the ccleaner solution at this point as the machine functions as it should.

Ok accepted.

CCleaner though is more than a troubleshooting tool, it also is very useful to cleanup temp spaces and such.
