Two things ...
#1: I think you can use a softphone (even if you do not have a SIP daughter board) ... for example the TS480VS version the PBX (because the PBX would treat this as a LAN phone). Its only not possible to use your softphone as a remote phone (if you do not have the SIP module).
So, since you have a TS 248VS, this is not important to know ... sorry for the false alarm.
#2: The instructions I gave you a URL for work with Counterpath products ... even if its X-lite or EyeBeam. You are in good shape with the .PDF link I gave you.

I service, support, troubleshoot and sell the TalkSwitch product all day. I've setup EyeBeam many times on a TS PBX.
Be sure you have the model with a SIP (VoIP) module (like the TS484VS); otherwise, you probably won't be able to use a softphone.
