I've owned GTA:SA since it was released. Played it through when I first got it and found that when I reached a certain point in the game (the 2nd city) the game started to crash. Nothing spectacular, just the usual, straight to desktop and send error report option.
I contacted Rockstar and they said it was the DVD firmware that needed updating. I updated the firmware and problem solved
Now, years later I come back to the game and think I'd like to give it another bash. Of course been an avid gamer my system hardware has updated but the DVD drive remains...
Now, I've played the game for appox 9 hours (according to the ingame stats) with no problems. However, in the past 2 hours its crashed twice...exactly the same error. And Im still at the 1st city
I'm in the process of contacting Rockstar again, but in the meantime wanted to see what you guys had to offer.
I'm an I.T. Support technician so you can assume Ive tried all the basics (drivers, firmware) and Im running Win XP
