R6 vegas runs worse on a faster pc

I've recently purchased Rainbow 6 vegas.
I ran it on my older PC (P4 1,8ghz). Worked decently (low graphics)
I updated another PC with a new Mainboard/CPU (P4 2,8ghz).
On this PC the R6 config.setup complains about the speed, gives it a red X.
The game starts but runs very slugishly, when on the older pc it ran far better and the config.setup never even mentioned the clock speed...?
What gives?

It depends on whether the second pc has a lot of tasks running in the background that load it down, or the video card is inferior, or you are running it at a higher resolution that is more difficult to display.

When I have a problem with a VIdeo game I always install the newest Video card drivers and DirectX 9c again (10 if you have an 8XXX nvidia or DX 10 card). This usually fixes the speed issue. You can check background programs by clicking on Start/Run and typing msconfig in the run box. Go to the Startup tab and see if there are some update entries that can be unchecked - they just sit there looking for an update and steal your resources and performance for no good reason. Also look at Start/Program/Startup for any entries there as well.

those are the minimum requirements for the game Migoyan, I believe that pheidius was probably correct in stating that the old motherboard just didn't report the errors. Now as far as it not running as well, I couldn't really imagine that unless the video card changed as well. If you did change video cards you will need to upgrade your drivers and probably download the newest DirectX or maybe even OpenGL. I would recommend as long as cooling permits, if you really want to play the game that you overclock your processor. As far as how to do this, you could probably just google it using the name and model of your motherboard. I will caution doing this, however, overclocking can cause your computer to crash in which case you would take you CMOS battery out and put it back in to reset the settings on a computer that won't boot due to bios settings. Just thought of this... On my friends computer when I played COD4 we had the resolution turned up but ended up having to turn it down and the graphics were turned up higher due to the fact it was a better computer than my own. We ended up having to set the graphics down some and turn the resolution of the game down. So also try those and see if that helps any. Resolution should improve your FPS (Frames per second). sorry I had a couple of more things to add. A good place to try to look would probably be the ubisoft website. Visit Ubisoft web site at: http://www.ubisoft.com , they have troubleshooting there for that specific game if we weren't much help. They would have more expertise in that area seeing as though it is there game. Like I stated in the comment above though you should comment back and let us know if any of this helped so that we can either be happy for you or further assist.

The newer PC also has a better videocard. Same amount of RAM.
I wil try to update BIOS, Videocard drivers etc. and report back here ASAP.
We're going into easterweekend, so I will probably try all this no sooner than next week.

I don't know what has changed, the config program still complains that my system doesn't meet the game standards, but it runs smoothly now.

I have not updated any drivers or windows updates that point in this direction.

But because you guys took the trouble of helping me out, i want to split the points amongst you.
