Th ... quake does not run on xp ...
I have tried tenebrae and must say it is fantastic !
Quake now runs on XP ...only this time much much better.
Guys you must try this !
Only problem is it needs gforce 2muscle" card and at least 600MHZ pentium.
And i mean at least litterally.
I have 433 and is next to useless...too slow...
if you have 1ghz and more then do use tenebrae...
it is better than the original quake...

My configuration is:
Windows XP Pro (all updates except SP2)
Matrox G550 DualHead
I run succesfully Quake 1.09 with WinQuake 1.00 (you can download it here http://www.quaketerminus.c
I'll goto to test (maybe) tenebrae, but if your goal is to run your old Quake 1 on windows xp pro , I can tell you it works fine without tricks.
Just install quake into the default path X:\quake (where X is your drive letter), unzip the winquake.rar/.zip file content into that directory and just run the WINQUAKE.EXE prog. That is.
Bye

You can!

files/8000 0/86880.sh tml
Look at these sites:
http://psn.quake.net/softw
This has Winquake, a win32 port of the origional quake. It will work on NT4.

This is a GL Port (3D Accellerated, if you have a GL capible video card, such as an Nvidia graphics card). Read the readme; This is important!
There is also a version that was put together by some savvy author that has full motion shadows! It's Windows only, and I only wish I could remember the site or the name - Something like taenbere. The lighting mathematics were supposed to be simular to Doom 3, but don't quote me on that :).
