It's the best sim I've ever seen for the kind of seat-of-the-pants flying and aerobatics. It's the only one in which I've ever been able to get a plane to tumble around the axis of the wing like the real one can for example. The "hoops" courses were also a blast.
Alternatively, does anyone know of a similar sim. ie aerobatic planes, gliders, accurate flight model especially outside the "standard" flight envelope, accurate modelling of wind over terrain to allow slope-soaring, no guns, no radio, no control towers, no trafic ...

It doesn't look hopeful :(
There are reports on the Net of Flight Unlimited running in DOSBox
http://dosbox.sourceforge.
working titles. It was reported as running too slow to be playable though
It might be worth looking at this M$ article on getting DOS running on XP
but I don't think it will help here.
FWIW I have my XP machine dual booted with a Win98SE drive and run my older games on that.
Sorry not to have a more positive solution for you.
You may want to give vdmsound a try, sometimes it works better then dosbox (as in it doesn`t run as slow).
