DirectX error while installing fifa 2007

I am trying to install Fifa 2007 soccer on my windows xp media center computer. It keeps telling me that it can't continue with installation because I need directX 9.0c or higher which I have already installed the newest version form April 2007, but it still keeps giving me that error. How can I check to see if I indeed have the latest directX installed, And if I do, Is there a way to bypass that error message while installing that game or could it be that there is something wrong with the game itself?

Check your DX version by typing 'DXDIAG' in the Run box in your Start menu.  If you have XP SP2 then you should have 9.0c as a minimum by default if you have Vista you should have version 10.  It could be an installation bug but let's see what version you have first.  Sometimes you have to force Windows to load a particular version of DX.

Hello there,

I have had a user in the past that has had a similar problem installing a different game. In the end the issue was the OS that the user was trying to install that game on (Media Center). What you might what to do it try installing it on another computer to make sure that this is the issue (Vista,XP) . If it fails on a different OS then it might be the disc itself.

I tried both things you guys have suggested and the results are; I do have 9.0c, It is a media center pc "HP Media Center PC m7360n", I installed the game on another older computer just fine. So do you guys know of a solution to my problem?

This is a common issue with some EA Sports games ( NFS and Fifa 07 above all ). Right click on the Autorun.exe file-->Properties-->Compatibility-->Set Windows 2000 Compatibility.

You should be able to go on with the installation.
