i play counter strike on my LAN connection .......when i have to make a server i just start a new game ...making a server ....there are players who use CHEATS .... like auto aim head shot .....wall cheat .....changing name cheats
please recommend anything to stop cheating .... FOR playing on LAN
my version is counter strike 1.6.....

no ....thats the problem ....not playing through steam ....and tell me how to use these both ...
i have googled it before asking question...i got 4,5 things including these two ....but problem is i am not able to use these correctly ...or finding them difficult can u guide a process to install these two or where to copy the files of these both ? ...they are zipped or rared on the net ....no auto installer :S:S

This would be the simplest route - use metamod and then install HL Guard as a mod within it.
(Actually the best solution would be for everyone to play via a Steam account and use VAC - don't forget the server software including VAC is free via Steam)
well i think steam is used for playing throughout the world ....also i have to install it in each and every pc of my local Lan ....i am just a normal Lan user (not an administrator) who can convince users to install steam ....when playing CS i just start a new game with any map .....users join from my Lan instantly ....and we start playing CS ...its that simple ....

nop....i told you people that i am playing it on a LAN. .......so i can install it on my pc but why do clients install it ?? ....they can easily join or create any server by going into new game and starting a server simply ?? No use of it ..i have tried it already...

It doesn't matter whether you play it on LAN or not. Clients need to install it in order to play on your server. It will prevent them from playing cs (on your server) with cheats and without the program running. On the other hand even with steam there are ways of utilizing cheats. That is why this is your best option.
Steam is effectively a download client which protects Valve from piracy and allows you to find online servers.
If you have any valid CD Key for a Valve game you can use the client to update your version of the Valve game to the latest version. You can also get the CS:Source or HL servers with Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) which is what you need to run as a server.
Steam allows either LAN or Internet play through the same account.
You can download the Steam Client free.
When you run it it will ask you if you want to register your CD Key, if you don't want to initially say yes anyway but don't put a key in. You can always ewnter them later. This will allow you access through a password protected account your set up to all of the Valve free software including both the CS and HL server.
You and your other players will then need to download the game client for the games you want to play via steam and you will need at least one valid CD Key to do this. (the CD based clients do not work with the downloaded server). When you launch Steam to play you then select LAN play and point to the server game in much the same way as you do now. Anti-cheat only needs to be on the server side.

There's also an ssClient program available over the internet.
The client software supports cheat detection (checksum- and process name-based) and automatic banning. It's not maintained, but that's not really hard to add new cheats to the database by yourself.
Another feature (I liked it a lot more than cheat detection) is an ability to capture screenshots from your players (like punkbuster). You can make a small screenshot view interface (or just alias the screenshots folder in your apache) for admins and even players so they could check each other.
If somebody tries to play an ssClient-protected server without ssClient, he can be kicked. You can set up a lot of different settings and so on.
But the best advice is to start hosting not cracked STEAM-enabled servers and rely on VAC and wise admins.
