Can you specify your EXACT model # or list your service tag to view the exact hardware installed on your pc? I am trying to figure out if your video card can even render that type of a game.... Games like that and others require alot of system resources along with video memory, ram, and processing power. Any extra info on your pc would be helpful...........Let me know.

PROCESSOR..., T7100, 1.8, 2MB, CMER, M0
DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE..., 1GB, 667, 128X64, 8K, 200
Intel®  Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (Up to 256MB shared5)

The CPU and memory look fine. The vedio card is real weak. That would be the show stopper.

ABout the only thing you could try would be going in to the BIOS and increasing the amount of memoy devoted to you video adapter to 512MB. That, in toun, would decread the amount of memory available to the OS to 512MB

It won't be good to run it that way.....Either way you are woking with a minimal card to play this well....... However, that game you have listed is on the validated list for this chipset but you are still only working with shared memory along with a tiny 128bit interface. I think the shared memory max is set to 256Mb., but you can try to look in your bios to see if this can be boosted. Even if you can bump up the memory share to greater than 256Mb, you bottleneck for rendering will be with the systems memory, graphics interface size and graphics memory(256Mb, in your case).....To sum it up, either run the game on LOW settings and see how it plays for you along with setting the game to match your desktop settings (resolution, bit, and refresh rate)

You will just about get this to play on the integrated card BUT AOE3 will have looked at your system specs and defaulted to high res graphics, then when you launch the game it realises that the card can't handle high res and chokes (often with some pretty fluorescent colors on the screen!).

As already said you should have the most recent drivers installed - this is not essential but will give you the best chance of a higher res performance at the end.

You first need to reset the game profile which will get you your menus back:

Make sure AOE isn't running anything on your laptop (i.e. best done after rebooting)
Browse to %User Profile%\My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users (or Users2 if you are running TWC)
Delete the "NewProfile.xml" or "NewProfile2.xml" file
Reboot
Launch the game

Now you should have the menus back (if not post again)

Go to the video settings and start with the lowest

Make sure the game copes with that then gradually increase the settings until the system falls over again (or you are happy with the performance) - if you go too far just reset as above.

AOE3 will severely test your machine but only the graphics component - but as it's a laptop and you can't change the card I'm afraid you have to live with that.
