LAN gaming setup

We are setting up a LAN gaming society at our university and had a few questions about setups.

We want to:
- Have 3 games with dedicated servers running at the same time on one LAN (quake 3, age of empires 2, counterstrike).
- Have about 10 people per game playing

Our idea is this:
- Having one powerful tower PC running all the games at once, connected to a switch/router.
- Have everyone connected with cables rather than wireless.

What do we need to be aware of?
Would is be possible to play LAN games over just a switch, or do we need a router so that we have a DHCP server?
