PS2 PROBLEM

I have a PS2.
As far as I can see the console works fine and it runs other games I have without any problems.
I just bought the TombRaider Anniversary Edition game.
This game will not run.
The PS2 starts and the browser screen appears for a second before it recognises the disc and tries to start.
The PlayStation logo appears and I can hear the disc being accessed but nothgin happens and the screen goes blank. I left it for 20 mins and nothing.

I took the game back to the store and got a replacement but this does exactly the same.

Any idea what this could be ?
Could these disks both be faulty (part of a bad batch) or is there something wrong with my PS2 ?
