It isn't the main purpose of experts exchange to have experts helping people with less (but not empty)knowledge, if we start sending people to the manufacture company of all systems what is the main mission of EE, if some1 has a problem with apple send them to apple AWESOME SOLUTION, if is the case with WIN XP send them to Microsoft, come on experts is better not answer rather than sending everyone over (i think most people do when they have a problem) TO THE COMPANY and see if they find a solution.
I have that problem and I went to SONY first, yea they want you to pay; I think I could fixed it with a little help, that is why I came to EE, and found this NON SENSE answer
It is just my opinion, I respect you but I think sending a person to SONY is not what EE is meant to B for.
thanks

Have you considered the drive controller board may be the cause of this and causing the drive to fail?
I know giving $150 to Sony is hard to do but they WILL fix it. If the problem is with the motherboard you'll get it eventually but what is the cost of the time, effort and parts involved.
It as useful thread though hopefully it will stop others getting into a mess with Bluray.
